"Rusty" The Giant Sloth:
Exhibition Use - Rusty has been a permanent exhibit at the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History since 1985.
Interpretation - Rusty is an interpretation of a Megalonyx Jeffersonii or Giant Ground Sloth from the Ice Age.
Education Use - Rusty is the first stop on museum tours and he gets a birthday party every year for grade school children to learn about the time in which he lived. He is an ambassador for his species and the mascot of the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History.

Reproduction - Rusty is a re-creation of what a Megalonyx Jeffersonii looked like based on fossil bones, some of which are held in the University of Iowa Paleontology Repository.
