The MedTech Academy at San Diego High School is a program that provides high school students with the opportunity to learn about and explore the field of healthcare and medical technology. As part of our program, we offer a spring internship program for students who are interested in gaining real-world experience in various fields. We are currently seeking community organizations that would be willing to host one or more of our students for the spring of 2024.
Our students are highly motivated and eager to learn. They have a strong interest in medical technology and are eager to contribute to the work of your organization. We know that they would be a valuable asset to your team. The internship program would run for a period of approximately 18 weeks, from January to May, 2024, however, we can work with your schedule and adjust if needed. During this time, our students would be involved in a variety of activities to assist you and your organization’s needs, such as:
Research: Interns can help with research projects by collecting data, conducting literature reviews, and analyzing results.
Data entry: Interns can help with data entry tasks, such as entering patient information, coding medical records, and compiling statistics.
Administrative tasks: Interns can help with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, filing paperwork, and scheduling appointments.
Shadowing: Interns can shadow medical professionals to learn about their day-to-day work.
Volunteering: Interns can volunteer their time to help with community outreach or patient care.
Project management: Interns can help with project management tasks, such as setting goals, creating timelines, and tracking progress.
Marketing: Interns can help with marketing tasks, such as creating social media posts, writing press releases, and organizing events.
Public relations: Interns can help with public relations tasks, such as writing press releases, responding to media inquiries, and managing social media accounts.
Fundraising: Interns can help with fundraising tasks, such as writing grant proposals, organizing events, and soliciting donations.
This internship program is a valuable learning experience for our students and gives them the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world situations and helps them to develop the skills and knowledge they need to pursue a career in medical technology, healthcare, or a career of their choice.
**If you, or someone you know would be interested in hosting an intern in the spring semester (from January 2025-May2025), please contact the MedTech director, Skye Pinon (scookepinon@sandi.net) for more information.
