Virtual retreats are being organised to provide an opportunity to receive and understand the pure Buddhist teachings on the Four Noble Truths.
In these perilous times, the Buddha’s words on The Noble Truth of Suffering vividly stand out above any other aspect of life. Birth, aging, sickness, death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, sadness and distress, union with what is displeasing, separation from what is pleasing, not getting what one wants explain the Noble Truth of Suffering. In short, the five aggregates of grasping lead to suffering: form (rūpa), feeling (vedanā), perception (saññā), volitional formation (saṅkhāra), and consciousness (viññāṇa).
How does the suffering arise? The Noble Truth of Origin of Suffering is the craving that results in rebirth, seeking pleasure and delight. Craving is threefold: craving for sensuality, craving for existence, and craving for non-existence.
How does one end the suffering? The Noble Truth of the Cessation of Suffering is the complete eradication of this craving by the abandonment of it, liberation from it, and detachment from it.
What is the path to eradicate the suffering? The Noble Truth of the Way of Practice Leading to the Cessation of Suffering is to follow The Noble Eightfold Path. Namely: Right View, Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration.
The objective of these virtual retreats is to provide an opportunity to everybody to guide themselves through the Noble Eightfold Path.
May all be able to decipher the supreme knowledge and attain Nibbana in the end!
