In terms of Netflix's diversification, it has created several subsidiaries. Netflix owns three production companies, Netflix Studies (based in the United States of America), Netflix Services Germany GmbH (based in Germany), and Netflix Pte. Ltd. (based in Singapore). They use these studios to further expand their arsenal of content, which in turn incentivizes more consumers to subscribe.
To further diversify its horizons, Netflix has made three significant acquisitions in convergence. The first was Millarworld, which was a creator-owned comic book company that was founded by critically acclaimed comic book writer, Mark Millar. Netflix made the acquisition in 2017, which gave them the vault of Millarworld's franchises to utilize, such as Chosen, Wanted, The Unfunnies, and War Heroes. In 2018, Netflix purchased ABQ Studios, which is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As of their purchase in 2018, Netflix planned on investing 1 billion dollars across ten years and create up to one thousand production jobs each year. Productions that Netflix has created with this studio include Chambers (2019), Daybreak (2019), and Messiah (2020-). Lastly, Netflix has acquired StoryBots, a company that makes educational shows for kids, in 2019. They purchased it with the intention to expand the amount of content on Netflix for young children. Through these convergences, Netflix has diversified the content which it puts out. Another thing to note is that Netflix's entire online streaming model is a convergence between entertainment and the internet. It combined the abilities and streaming power that the internet provided (more on that in the technology section) and the demand for movies and television shows to keep consumers entertained. To top it all off, Netflix allowed their entertainment to be watched anywhere, whether it be in the comfort of one's bed or at the airport on their phone. That is the genius of Netflix.
