The Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) 2.0 is an enhanced version of the earlier SSIP 1.0, launched by the Government of Gujarat in January 2022. With a policy period spanning five years (January 2022 – March 2027), SSIP 2.0 builds on the success of its predecessor, offering more comprehensive support to startups and entrepreneurs across the state. The policy provides funding assistance, mentorship, incubation, accelerator programs, and access to industry networks and global markets to nurture student-led startups.
A key feature of SSIP 2.0 is the introduction of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hubs (iHubs), serving as one-stop solutions for sector-specific startups. These hubs offer state-of-the-art facilities, including co-working spaces, labs, and incubation centers, fostering an innovation-driven ecosystem. The policy aims to cultivate a culture of entrepreneurship among students, encouraging creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving through partnerships between startups, industry, academia, and the government.
In alignment with this vision, Government Polytechnic Godhra has established an SSIP 2.0 Cell to implement the policy’s objectives. The cell organizes various activities such as:
Ideathons
Proof of Concept (PoC) project screenings
Webinars and seminars on innovation, patent filing, and entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship Day celebrations
SSIP awareness programs
To secure support under the policy, students must prepare a project proposal under faculty mentorship and submit it through the Head of Department and Principal. The SSIP Coordinator then convenes a screening committee, which evaluates and approves projects based on merit. So far, four project proposals from Government Polytechnic Godhra have been shortlisted at the PoC stage, with two receiving funding approval from the SSIP 2.0 Cell, Godhra.
More insights about the policy will be on official website of the SSIP Gujarat
