What is required to be a driver?

You must be at least 18 years old
Have a valid TIN, SSN, or EIN
A current auto insurance policy that meets the requirements of your state
Have a valid and current U.S. driver's license

A provisional license does not meet Means Express’s driver requirements
Our driver evaluation through Checkr (a third-party service) consists of Motor Vehicle Record, Criminal Background Check, and National Sex Offender Public Search.
The average turnaround time for Criminal and MVR checks to clear is around 2 weeks, but in some rarer cases can take a month+ based on differing factors
Checks are based on a combination of legal and company policy criteria specified in local laws and regulations governing delivery network drivers, as well as our internal safety standards.
Applicable laws specifying the criteria Means Express must follow when reviewing background check results vary considerably by state, so individuals may be disqualified for various criminal offenses and driving history.
What's expected of me when driving with Means Express?
When you drive with MeansExpress you are representing our customers (suppliers) to their customers.
The Courier industry runs on deadlines, so drivers are expected to arrive on time for deliveries. It's important to communicate ASAP via Support if there are any issues, delays, or cancellations.
Always keep your tracking active in the driver app while on a delivery. This allows customers and Means Express to keep up to date on the delivery's status.
There may be hand loading and/or unloading items up to 100 lbs during deliveries. Hand loading and unloading over 100 lbs will be noted and compensated for.
Customers require drivers to have closed shoes and long pants.
Vehicle cargo areas must be clear and fully available.
Once you are assigned a delivery, read all of the directions or notes provided in the driver app to ensure you are properly prepared.
It's important to leave for deliveries as soon as you're assigned.
If an issue arises, it's important to reach out to the Customer or Operations Team.
For Rush Deliveries:
Go immediately and directly to pickup and then drop-off.
For Scheduled Deliveries:
Arrive at pickup at the requested time and then immediately and directly to drop-off.
Once you're at the pickup location, most orders can be picked up at the store's "WILL-CALL."
Be respectful and courteous to our customers and their materials.
Double-check delivery notes to confirm the item(s).
Safety first! Remember to secure and organize the payload
If you're worried about an item or it has significantly different size dimensions, please contact the Service Operations Team.
Take good, clear pictures of the payload and upload them into the app.
Try not to make unnecessary stops along the way, as this can delay your delivery.
Remember that customers are tracking the order, so again, make sure that your location is active in the app.
Most deliveries have drop-off contacts in the delivery notes. It is not uncommon to be requested to call them before you arrive to deliver.
Remember to upload clear photos of the items once you drop them off.
Always capture the name of the individual you leave the items with.
Once you deliver, you will be able to claim your payout.

How do I get paid?
We pay our drivers through a platform called Stripe. To learn more about Stripe.
How can I track my earnings?
The MeansExpress App tracks your earnings for you. Click the "Earnings" tab to see your pay for the day, week, and month. Once you sign up for Stripe, you will get a detailed list of all completed orders, bonuses, and other miscellaneous earnings.
How is driver pay calculated?
Drivers are paid by the mile between pickup and drop-off based on the service level and vehicle type selected by the customer.
Do Drivers get tips? Do I get to keep them?
Tips are not expected, nor should they be requested. The system does not include a tipping option. However, should a customer provide a tip to the driver, the money is theirs to keep.
When do I get paid?
Independent Driver pay periods run from Sunday through Saturday with driver pay appearing in drivers' accounts after the first 10 days.
What is the average hourly and weekly rate?
This rate will vary based on how many hours a driver is on the network and our business load. An average could be $75-$325 per day, depending on how active the driver chooses to be.
Do drivers get any type of promotional offers, referral bonuses or rewards?
Drivers are eligible for referral bonuses for other drivers they refer once the referred driver completes 30 orders within 60 days. In addition, the referred driver also receives a bonus. All new drivers who complete 10 deliveries within their first 30 days are eligible for a $50 bonus.
How do I enter my tax information?
When a Means Express Representative completes onboarding of the driver, they will complete a W9 with the driver. This W9 will be used to process the driver's year-end tax paperwork information.
How do tolls work for Means Express Drivers?
Drivers are paid for all tolls present on the calculated route, at the time that the order is placed, from pickup to drop-off.
