The MLT curriculum needed many revisions and remapping with some new outcomes to comply with accreditors and oversight bodies. Some courses were 6 weeks and needed to be adapted to 12 weeks. Many course outcomes required condensing or editing. Each course revision had only a 4-week turnaround time.
An added issue is that the subject matter expert (SME) had very limited availability. Most of the curriculum revisions and mapping had to occur without their initial input, and they would later review and request changes. Some prior course documentation was provided, but in some ways this added to rather than alleviate the challenge of conducting this work with minimal SME input.
AI was leveraged to assist with subject matter including learning objectives and lecture topics. All materials were continuously cross-referenced using old course materials, the current textbook, and SME review. The AI made several errors which were caught in the design phase and mostly based on the discrepancies in reference documents shared to help with the project. This project was definitely a lesson in resilience and patience in ensuring solid curriculum alignment.
