In 2013, I co-founded a local annual higher education conference. The Center for Innovative Teaching Excellence coordinator and I scheduled a meeting with two representatives of a nearby university to discuss ways in which we could collaborate. During the meeting, I mentioned how expensive many of the national professional development conferences are, and how it might be beneficial to consider creating a regional conference where our own talented faculty could share and learn from one another. It was in that moment that "Lancaster Learns" was born!
Lancaster Learns is now in its 11th year and is sponsored by 12 regional colleges and universities. It typically draws an audience of nearly 200 for a day of professional growth, learning, and collegiality. I served on the Lancaster Learns planning committee from 2013-2019.
