Objective of Internship

My objective during my internship at Desmania Pvt Ltd, a design studio, is to gain real-world experience that complements my classroom learning. I want to learn how things work professionally and apply what I've learned in my courses to real challenges. I aim to contribute innovative ideas to the company and understand how they design projects, get approvals, and plan sales and marketing efforts. By participating in these processes, I intend to develop skills that will help me stand out in the design industry.

Synopsis

During my internship as an industrial designer under Saurav Singh's mentorship, I contributed to the TEA AUTOMATIC MACHINE project, focusing on mechanism, CMF, and form. My tasks included sketching, mockup creation, product study, 3D modelling, and engaging in certain engineering aspects.

Form Generation

Objective

I noticed the automatic tea-making machine had a very straightforward and plain appearance. So, I decided to give it a fresh, appealing look. However, there were some challenges. I couldn't alter how the internal parts were arranged, and I also had to stick to the same manufacturing methods, which included aluminium bending, injection moulding, and acrylic bending. Despite these limitations, I used my creativity to redesign the machine's exterior, making it more beautiful.

Conclusion

This project's scope is to enhance the appearance of the automatic tea-making machine while respecting the existing internal parts and manufacturing processes. Our objective is to create a visually appealing and attractive product that aligns with user preferences. Effective documentation and collaboration with the project team will be essential to achieve this goal.

Locking Mechanism

Problem

Locking system (milk and water boxes, tea & and sugar boxes)The tea vending machine under consideration features two separate containers for dispensing tea and sugar, utilizing a motor-driven mechanism located at the rear of the machine. The motor’s rotation facilitates the dispensing of tea and sugar. However, a persistent issue arises wherein the machine frequently displaces from its designated position during motor operation.

Solution

I delved into the realms of solid mechanics and machine components during my internship. My objective was to devise a locking mechanism that not only imparts a positive force to stabilize the box but also securely locks it in place. In this pursuit, I extensively studied the principles of mechanics and the fundamentals of machine components. Through rigorous research and analysis, I concluded that a Cam and Shaft system offered the most promising solution for our locking mechanism. This concept led to a series of brainstorming sessions, idea generation, sketching, and detailed calculations. After a thorough ideation process and numerous iterations, I successfully arrived at a highly effective locking system. This innovative solution not only generates the desired positive force to stabilize the box but also ensures a secure lock, meeting the project's objectives and achieving a positive outcome.

The scope of this project revolves around elevating the aesthetics of the automatic tea-making machine while adhering to the existing internal components and manufacturing processes. The goal is to create a visually pleasing and attractive product that enhances the overall user experience. Conclusion of Internship
