The Mississippi Council of Teachers of English (MCTE) is a growing professional community dedicated to supporting English Language Arts educators across our state. As an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English, we are committed to promoting effective literacy instruction and advocating for teachers and students in Mississippi.
MCTE is currently in a season of growth. We are actively working to expand our offerings and build meaningful opportunities for educators, including professional learning, shared resources, and connections across classrooms and districts. While our work is still developing, our vision is clear: to create a supportive, collaborative space where teachers feel equipped, valued, and inspired.
Whether you are just beginning your teaching career or have years of experience, MCTE invites you to be part of building a stronger future for literacy education in our state.
The Mississippi Council of Teachers of English was proud to have several board members attend the 2025 NCTE Annual Convention. The conference provided opportunities to collaborate with educators from across the country and learn about current research and instructional practices. Our board members were inspired by sessions focused on literacy, writing instruction, student engagement, and advocacy for English language arts educators.
If you plan to attend the 2026 NCTE Annual Convention in Philadelphia, let us know! We would love the opportunity to connect with fellow Mississippi educators and meet you there.
