Lots of great things to come in 2026! We are already growing lots of 4" plants in our greenhouse for our early spring plant sale in March 2026. Stay tuned!
GROWING CALENDAR 2026
Here's an quick guide to planting in our zone 8a in the Charlotte area.
April 5th
Our last frost date is around April 5th. That simply means that there is only a 10% chance we might get a frost after that. This is important to note as you want to be able to protect any plants that may be harmed should a frost event happen.
PLANTING TOMATOES
CONTAINER GARDENING VS. IN YOUR GARDEN BED
You should plant tomato plants outside in Charlotte, NC, from mid-April to mid-May, after the last frost (around late March/early April), ensuring soil temperatures are warm (above 50°F, ideally 60°F) and nights are consistently above 50°F for best growth, with late May offering a safer bet if protection isn't available.
