The McLaren F1 #004 was another one of the F1s purchased by the Royal family of Brunei. This was one of two F1s painted in Grand Prix Red. #004 was also the earliest chassis # to be involved in an accident. A few months after the purchase of the F1, two McLaren mechanics were taking the car on a high speed test, and during the test, they hit an unexpected patch of water at approximately 80mph, and completely wrote off the car. #004 was sent back to McLaren, where it was destroyed, and salvaged parts were sent back to the Brunei Royal Family as souveniers. This crash took place on the Tutong highway (in Brunei), and the car was tested every 6 weeks until the accident. Due to the crash taking place so soon after purchase, there is almost no information or pictures on this vehicle. The only pictures publicly available are one of the F1 going through final checks at the factory, and one of 004 in storage in the Sultan of Burnei's garage. This crash was confirmed on this post , were a person said he emailed the mechanic who was responsible for the crash, and he confirmed either #004 or #005 were crashed, but as later discovered, #005 is still intact, meaning #004 was destroyed.
Although there is not much info on #004, we know it was built at Woking McLaren sometime in 1994. There is one image of the F1 going through final testing, and here it is.
The only other picture of #004 is it sitting in storage at the Brunei Royal Family Car Collection, and was pictured sometime in 1994 (since it was built and crashed in 1994).
