Welcome!
This tool is intended to make searching accounting research easier. To that end, the above link directs you to my KIT. The tool indexes author-supplied keywords into a list, sorted alphabetically.
You may select a letter ("Letter" window ) in which you would like to search, then select any keyword ("Keywords" window) you would like to learn more about. The number next to each keyword indicates how many times that keyword has been used.
You may also search within a letter for a keyword you might be interested in using the search box at the bottom of the "Keywords" window.
Once you have selected a keyword, related citations will appear ("Citations" window). You can also learn more about the keyword by viewing the separate "Alternative Keywords" dashboard located at the bottom of your screen.
On the "Alternative Keywords" dashboard you will find first a list of co-occuring keywords. Meaning, these keywords are also given on the same publications as your selected keyword. The number next to these keywords indicates the number of times the co-occuring keyword appears with your selected keyword.
You will also see a list of identical keywords. These words are most often versions of your selected keyword that you may also me interested in studying.
Finally, the column chart visually displays the historical use of your selected keyword, color coded by journal.
When you want to clear any selection (letter or keyword) simply select the letter or keyword again.
When you have a list of citations you wish to download, you may select the download icon in the upper right hand corner of the site (just above the dashboard). Select "Data" and select the "Citations" worksheet.
If, when you open the dashboard the panes are stacked vertically, switch the view to "Desktop Layout" in the lower right hand corner.
It is important to note two big caveats to this tool. First, as of October 2024, there are only six journals (TAR, JAR, JAE, CAR, AOS, and RAST) available in the database. Second, each of these journals began requesting author-supplied keywords at different times during their history. As a result some have more keywords available than others. Their earliest known keywords dates are as follows:
TAR - 1990
JAE - 1994
RAST - 2000
JAR - 2014
AOS - 2015
CAR - 2020
Lastly, this tool is continuously undergoing updates and revisions. If you have any suggested edits or updates, please share.
Thank you!
