Welcome to our Open Mic! We're excited to hear your voice, your art, and your truth. To keep the event flowing and respectful for all, please follow these guidelines:
Age Requirement: This is a 13+ event. Please be mindful of age-appropriate content.
One Piece Per Sign-Up: Each performer may share one piece per sign-up. This helps give everyone a chance to shine.
Time Limit: Each performer has up to 5 minutes on the mic. Please respect the time limit—your art matters, and so does everyone else's.
Sign-Up at the Event: There is no pre-registration. Sign-up will be available at the venue, and it's first come, first served.
5. Respect the Mic:
No hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory language.
Respect the space, the audience, and the performers before and after you.
We value expression, but not at the expense of others.
No heckling
6. Family & Friends: This is a welcoming environment for families and friends. Let’s keep it supportive and safe for everyone.
7. Support Each Other: Snaps, claps, cheers—all welcome! Encourage fellow artists and make the space feel alive.
8. Examples of Performances: We accept spoken word performances, nasheeds, sharing a seerah, etc. No instruments, vocals only
9. Videography: As this is a public event, please be prepared for your work to be photographed or filmed by the audience.
Childcare
Childcare
We are delighted to inform you that Sisters' Committee of Muslim Community Center is pleased to offer free childcare services for children aged 5-12 years old during the Open Mic/ Potluck Night on Saturday, July 12th from 6-9PM.
Any kids younger than 5 years old can stay with parent/guardian during the event. Parent/guardian will be held responsible for their children at the event.
At this time, we don't have volunteers that specialize in taking care of any special needs of a child.
