Chester County Migrant Ministry (CCMM)
One way CCMM serves those in need in the community is by providing citizenship training for those who meet the governmental criteria (candidates) and are interested in becoming naturalized U.S. citizens.
CCMM had outdated brochures and used traditional teaching methods for the approved candidates. No standardized training existed to enable additional volunteers to consistently assist in candidate training.
CCMM required technical assistance in developing new educational materials for its citizenship candidates and in providing general information that could be easily updated and shared with the community.
CCMM was using the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) 2008 version (100 questions), but after developing one learning solution, the USCIS updated its questions in the USCIS 2025 version (128 questions). Therefore, my instructional design skills were needed to quickly design and rapidly develop a new eLearning solution (Articulate Rise) to accomodate for the changes.
I worked with the training leader to curate training content based on the USCIS interview and exam. I designed and developed 2 eLearning modules:
Articulate Storyline eLearning based on the 2008 USCIS 100-question exam
Articulate Rise eLearning for rapid development, based on the 2025 USCIS 128-question exam
I also designed and created a brochure, poster, and facilitator presentation that enable CCMM to share current information with the local community, spread the word about what CCMM does and what it needs, and raise additional support for more families in the local area.
Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD)
FTD is a devastating disease that is usually diagnosed during midlife.
After experiencing this diagnosis from a friend of mine, I went on a quest to learn more about FTD, inform others about this often misdiagnosed disease, and relate how it impacts individuals and families.
I designed a storyboard, an infographic, and an eLearning module that told the real-life story of my friend's experience as she dealt with a husband suffering from FTD. Soon after the deployment of this eLearning, he succumbed to this devastating disease. Since then, the actor Bruce Willis was diagnosed with FTD, and this announcement has provided more public awareness.
