The Office of Field Investigation serves as the enforcement and investigative division of the DMV, tasked with ensuring compliance with motor vehicle laws, permit regulations, and transportation safety standards. OFI investigates permit misuse, motor vehicle insurance fraud, illegal installations of emergency equipment, violations of Titles 2 and 6, and crimes occurring on or involving DMV facilities and operations.
OFI’s investigators—both civilian and sworn—work to identify threats, gather evidence, conduct field operations, and support inter-agency coordination with the MTP, local police, and state agencies. Created through the Motor Vehicle Investigators Act, OFI provides the DMV with the capability to enforce its regulations directly and maintain the integrity of Mayflower’s transportation system. The office prioritizes professionalism, accountability, and public safety in every operation.
