The Story of Maya Lin School

Ten years ago, Maya Lin was an under-resourced school called Washington Elementary. Due to low student performance - with an enrollment of only 250 students - the school faced closure. Rather than close the campus, visionary school-site leadership partnered (via an AUSD Innovative Grant) to establish a learning community firmly rooted in arts integration and inquiry-based instruction. This commitment - of time, resources, and funding - to reimagine Maya Lin School has been an AUSD success.
