make anything from scratch. i only work on existing items.
i am currently doing drop-in consultations for my paid repair services twice per week in downtown Northampton at
Masonic Street Laundromat, Sundays 9am-1pm
and
Grow Food Northampton Farmers Market, Tuesdays 1-6pm
no need for an appointment, feel free to just show up with your item(s). i will occasionally miss one of my regular drop-in times because of sickness, travel, etc., in which case i will post the schedule change here as early as possible.
the laundromat is up a short flight of stairs with a railing. People often use scented detergents and dryer sheets in the laundromat, so it may not be accessible for people with sensitivities to chemical fragrances.
the farmers market is in a paved outdoor courtyard and is wheelchair accessible. It's often a pretty crowded and noisy place.
please reach out to me if there is a way I might be able to meet your access needs if you live in the Northampton area and my in-person consultation hours are consistently not accessible for you due to disability, recurring schedule conflict, or other circumstances.
puedo hablar y entender un poquitoito de español. i can speak and understand a little bit of Spanish.
cash only!
i think that mending is a basic community need, so i want my services to be accessible whatever your financial situation. $15-$45/hour is a common price range, but customers sometimes pay more or less, and i trust people to self-assess what they can afford and feel is fair. really, customers can choose any price they want.
i like to offer estimates of how long work might take before i do it, and i don't ask to be paid until i have returned your item(s) so that you have a chance to evaluate your satisfaction with my work.
my mending business is my primary source of income, and i feel deeply fortunate to be able to meet my needs doing what i love. Many thanks to all my customers for your invaluable support!
here are some example prices of what my work costs at about $15/hour for common repairs:
zipper replacement -- $15 for a short zipper
$20 for a medium length
$25 for a long zipper
(plus $3 or $7 material cost if i provide the new zipper)
button/clasp replacement -- $3
patching/darning a hole -- $5 to $45 (it depends on the size of the hole)
