hello! i am Max.

i have been sewing and mending clothes and more for myself and my loved ones since 2020 and sewing professionally since autumn 2022. i am passionate about repair and slow fashion, diverting damaged items from waste streams and making them into art. unfortunately, in our modern consumer culture, mending is a rarity, and throwing out even lightly worn possessions has become a norm. i am trying to ditch this culture of ditching and foster a culture of caring for our stuff through my work at Max's Mending and the Mending Circle.

nearly all of my materials are second hand, found, gifted, or recycled. i especially love doing highly visible mending, but i am also happy to do more visually subtle work.
