I know Max Pfennings as a student at the Business Innovation program where I am a lecturer. He attended my classes and I am his mentor (we call this an ID Coach at our program).
As a student, Max is doing well in his studies. Max passed his propaedeutic year in one go. Max is present and actively participates in the lesson and in his project groups. Max shows that he is learning and he is interested in the study material. Max has his own study process well under control and contacts me and his other teachers at logical and sensible moments. Max knows well what he wants to know. Max consistently communicates his expectations and expresses satisfaction with clarity.
Max also shows this in his personal communication. Max comes across as confident and efficient. He communicates purposefully, can start conversations well but also finish them neatly. It is a pleasure to work with Max.

Dear reader,
As a lecturer I am affiliated with the Business Innovation course at Avans University of Applied Sciences. Both last year and this year Max is one of my students. Over the past six months I have intensively supervised him during his first internship and innovation assignment.
I know Max as a hardworking and loyal student. He is always present and takes his job seriously. Max plans his work well and can handle deadlines.
In the projects he works on, he can adopt a flexible attitude and use his creativity for the benefit of the end result.
He can take charge of project work and is not afraid to discuss the group process. He does this professionally and with tact. In conversations with me as a teacher, he is honest and sincere, asks questions and communicates with a smile and professionally.

Ik heb de eer gehad om Max in mijn klassen te mogen hebben. Ik heb deze jonge man zien groeien, niet alleen in zijn Engels vaardigheden maar ook als persoon. Hij heeft zijn aanpassingsvermogen laten zien, hij is onbevreesd om zijn doelen na te streven en ook heeft hij sterke leiderschap vaardigheden laten zien. Max heeft mij gevraagd deze aanbevelingsbrief voor hem te schrijven om zijn wens de studie Business Innovation te kunnen volgen kracht bij te zetten. Als ouder doe ik dat uiteraard graag.
Max heeft in 2020 eindexamen HAVO gedaan aan het Lyceum Schӧndeln te Roermond.
De middelbare school heeft hij op een goede manier doorlopen. Max heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een zeer zelfstandig persoon. Gelijk in zijn brugklasjaar heeft hij zich aangemeld om lid te kunnen worden van de technische toneel commissie. Een voorbeeld van zijn onbevangenheid die hem kenmerkt. Hij heeft geen enkele schroom om voor een groep te gaan staan om iets te presenteren op welk gebied dan ook.
Hij is van nature nieuwsgierig, of het nu gaat om zaken uit onze geschiedenis, hoe iets gemaakt wordt of om muziek. Zijn ondernemendheid bleek voor mij ook toen hij zijn passie voor auto’s en met name Formule 1 koppelde aan een Instagram pagina met inmiddels 5300 volgers. Op enig moment kreeg ik contractvoorwaarden onder mijn neus om te beoordelen: hij had een bedrijf wat Formule 1 gerelateerde zaken verkoopt benaderd om affiliate website te worden en zo inkomsten te genereren.
In zijn voetbalteam valt hij op door zijn teamplayer eigenschappen en om anderen goed te coachen. Op een positieve manier, maar wel duidelijk. Max is breed georiënteerd, van sport tot muziek tot economische facetten van ons leven.
Na zijn eindexamen zou zijn droom, een high school jaar in de V.S. uitkomen. Na veel heen en weer in verband met COVID 19 is dat niet doorgegaan. Wat last minute wel kon is een jaar in de V.S. op de campus van Education First met een programma van Engels, Business Engels, American History en een aantal keuzevakken.Mooi is daarbij dat dat op 2 totaal verschillende plekken kon, en dus is hij begonnen in Tarrytown ( tegen New York aan ) en nu zit hij tot juni in San Diego.
Max is zeer internationaal georiënteerd, een opleiding in het Engels is voor hem dan ook een pré.

Max asked me to write this letter of recommendation for him in order to reinforce his wish to be able to follow the Business Innovation study. As a parent I was of course happy to do that.
Max graduated from high school (HAVO level) in 2020 at Lyceum Schӧndeln in Roermond.
He went through high school smoothly. Max has developed into a very independent person. Immediately in his first year, he applied to become a member of the technical theater committee. An example of his open-mindedness that characterizes him. He has no hesitation in standing in front of a group to present anything in any environment
He is naturally curious, whether it concerns matters from our history, how something is made or music. His entrepreneurial spirit was also apparent to me when he linked his passion for cars and especially Formula 1 to an Instagram page that now has 5300 followers. At some point I got contract terms under my nose to review: he approached a company that sells Formula 1 related goods to become an affiliate website and generate income.
In his soccer team he stands out for his team player qualities and for coaching others well. In a positive way, but clearly. Max is broadly oriented, from sports to music to economic aspects of our lives.
After graduation, his dream would be a high school year in the USA. However, After much back and forth in connection with COVID 19, that did not happen. Last minute there was however an opportunity for a year in the US. On the Education First campus with a program of English, Business English, American History and a number of electives, the nice thing is that it was possible in 2 completely different places, so he started in Tarrytown (close to New York) and now he is in San Diego until June.
Max is very internationally oriented, so an education in English is a given for him.
