I'm Max, 21 years old and come from the Netherlands. I am from the most southern province called Limburg. At the moment, I am in my third year of the study Business Innovation at Avans University of Applied Sciences. I am a highly motivated student with a huge passion for cars, Formula 1 and other motor sports. My passion for cars started when I was very young. My grandfather always used to restore old-timers for fun and this is where my interest began. I helped him in his garage and he was and still is my hero. Sadly, he passed away in 2016 but he taught me so many things. His 'words of wisdom' will be with me forever, never take 'no' for an answer and keep fighting even if things are going bad.
Like I said before I never take 'no' for an answer and I always will try to get the best out of any situation. Losing is something I don't like but I also see the value of learning from my mistakes. I strive to do and be the best in everything I do, even if it is just a debate at school or a soccer game back home. I also see the value in teamwork. If you have a good team where everyone is contributing with an excellent leader to guide you, I believe you can achieve and solve great things. I, personally, like to take control in a group and lead the team to the best possible result.
In June 2020 I graduated from high school in the Netherlands. After high school I decided to do a gap year before college. My dream was to travel to the United States and I signed up for a program called Education First (EF) High School Exchange Year. With this program you get to live with an American host-family and go to an American high-school for 9 months. Sadly this program was canceled due to Covid-19. Giving up on my American dream was not an option and I decided to go to EF International Language Campuses and experience living in New York for four months and then finishing the remaining 5 months in San Diego, CA. In these campuses you are fully submerged in English and building international friendships for life. The memories and adventures you experience will be with you for life. You live in a dorm with other students which aren’t from your home country so you’re forced to speak English. In June, I graduated in the highest level of English in the school, C2.3, which you can compare with the highest level of English in the Cambridge exam. The school also awarded me with a certificate of 'exemplary student'. This awarded is given to students who have made excellent achievements in and outside the classroom while studying.
As I said in the first paragraph, I am in my third year of university at Avans University of Applied Sciences and I study Business Innovation. I chose this study carefully because I feel that it can create many opportunities for myself and it fits me perfectly. I love to think about new ways to look at a problem and then try to solve it. In the future I don't see myself living in the Netherlands as I feel that my best opportunities lie in countries such as: Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Goals: To lead a company which is striving to be innovative and disruptive in their particular industry.
