Matulatula High School (formerly Domingo Yu Chu National High School-Matulatula Annex) is one of the public secondary schools in Pola, Oriental Mindoro. Founded in 1999, it is located in Barangay Matulatula which is eleven kilometers away from Poblacion. The site is 13 kilometers away from Strong Republic Nautical Highway passing through the Barangays of Sto. Domingo (Lapog) and Matungao, Socorro.
Its school ground is 10,000 square meters with different fruit-bearing trees surrounding the area. The topographic ambiance which likens to an inland resort adds beauty and comfort to become an ideal place and conducive for young learners.
MHS is strategically situated free from hazardous elements. This may have been a contributing factor to the increasing population of the school despite of established high schools located within the municipality and nearby locality.
With the continuous increasing number of population of the nearest barangay where the school is located, there is also an increase of yearly enrolment. As a result, this contributes to recognize different priorities for improvement that the school needs to be addressed.
School Curriculum
The school is implementing the K to 12 Enhanced Basic Education Curriculum, which has two division, the Junior High School (JHS) for the first 4 years in high school, Grade 7 to Grade 10 and the Senior High School for the next two years, the Grade 11 and Grade 12. There are five (5) learning areas for JHS, four (4) of which are the tool subjects and the fifth one is a cluster of subject areas called Makabayan. The tool subjects are indispensable learning areas and are basic tools to learning on how to further learn. They are as follows: Filipino, English, Science and Technology, and Mathematics. Makabayan is composed of Araling Panlipunan, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE), Music, Arts, PE and Health (MAPEH) and the Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao (EsP) which provide the students with an appropriate knowledge which will guide them in dealing with themselves, relating and serving others, country and God.
