One summer my friend and I thought it would be fun to built a steam engine, and we did just that. The process took us through a lot of failed attempts and research, but eventually we created a functioning engine. We used copper tubing and piping for the components that would be affected by heat and soldered them together. For the flywheel and most of the moving parts we used Vex. Below are the few pictures I was able to take throughout the process and a video of the working engine hooked up to 10-15 PSI of pressure before we bolted it down.
