I'm currently serving as the Costume Designer / Coordinator for Ursinus College's spring dance concert entitled Rewind / Fast Forward... Performances run Thursday April 30th 2026 to Saturday May 2nd 2026.
Upon beginning to study theatre in college, Matthew discovered he had a huge love and passion for costumes. As a queer artist, he has a deep understanding of the role that garments play in the lives of not only characters but in the lives of people too. Costuming, in his eyes, is a huge driving force in connecting an actor to their character and to connecting the audience to the world of the piece. He adores everything from helping with fittings to creating renderings, machine sewing, hand sewing on details, and so much more.
While attending the Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania - Bloomsburg, Matthew worked in the costume shop and spent countless hours honing and cultivating his skills. There he worked hands-on on costume pieces for productions beginning with small hand sewing projects and finishing out by building full pieces. He also took the Costume Design course which provided him an understanding of the history of costuming and challenged him to improve his rendering skills and his creative articulation.
The renderings found on this page were created as coursework for the Costume Design class at the Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania Bloomsburg. The taught was class by Emily Weisgerber, and Matthew worked in the Costume Shop under the leadership of Costume Shop Coodinator Sarah Forsythe.
