OIKOS, December 2024 - got the approval for publication but not out yet
In this paper , we presented a comprehensive dataset of different plants that host the Lonomia catterpilar in South America. This paper provided me with good experiences on using software for taxonomy and scientific names, seeking species characteristics in different sources and a lot of literature review of plant species known usages.

"This paper presents Hacc-Man, a game which challenges its players to "jailbreak" an LLM: subvert the LLM to output something that it is not intended to. Jailbreaking is at the intersection between creative problem solving and LLM security. The purpose of the game is threefold: 1. To heighten awareness of the risks of deploying fragile LLMs in everyday systems, 2. To heighten people's self-efficacy in interacting with LLMs, and 3. To discover the creative problem solving strategies, people deploy in this novel context. "
In this paper , we presented an updated and integrative analysis of reliable global data from 1960 to 2020 on the epidemiology of lonomia envenomation in the whole continent. This paper provided me heavy experience in using Geographical Data Science packages, such as geopandas, and R packages raster and sf. We also had the opportunity to start writting a better interface for acquiring Satellite data from the Copernicus Satellite API.
In this 7 minute read text, I introduce one of Base dos Dados' major breakthroughs: our R package. The package allows R users to access Base dos Dados' huge datalake (hosted at Google Cloud) within one single package. Showing its many different functions and how to use it a clean and efficient manner, I intend to use clear language to completely introduce the package. Combining a powerful tool (the basedosdados package) with easy to understand concepts, the publication aims at facilitating relevant data analysis for all of those wishing to join or interested in the field, democratizing data science.
When working as a Data Assistant at Base dos Dados, I was responsible for making one of the most important Brazilian education-related datasets publicly available in a cleaned and easy to use way (through Base dos Dados' packages). The schools' census contains 4 different data tables, providing info on teachers, students, schools and classes. In this 8 minute read text, I present the many possibilities that this 100gb data set has to offer while also showing how to access such using R and Python. Ranging from the number of available computers to the teachers educational background, the Brazilian Schoolar census offers researchers, journalists and anyone interested a deeper understanding of Brazilian education.
In this Portuguese-written post we dive into the immense gap in data availability concerning transphobia related crimes in Brazil. We explore the available datasets, tell about our journey to find them and teach how to access the data about transphobia in the country that has ranked #1 in crimes against trans people for 13 years in a row
I was responsible for presenting Base dos Dados’ R package toolbox and usage.
I presented JFemDados, the organization I co founded at LatinR, showing our workflow, struggles and future challenges.
I also helped organize Base dos Dados presentation at LatinR, writing about the toolbox we offered and possible usages.
JFemDados was invited to participate in the town hall meeting on media and local journalism to generally discuss how to combat fake news.
Data Journalism course for Uniacademia
I structured materials for a course ministered by our organization ‘JFemDados’ to journalism undergraduates at Uniacademia, a private university in our hometown Juiz de Fora.
I presented my ongoing research project about Brazilian indigenous peoples' health situation and its connection with their political participation.
I presented and discussed my ongoing research project about Brazilian indigenous peoples' health situation and its connection with their political participation.
