Welcome to my class! I am so excited to work with you all!
A little bit about me: I have been teaching since 2007, and I have been at San Diego Miramar College since 2012. I went to UCSD for my BA in Mathematics and SDSU for my MA in Mathematics Education. I love teaching mathematics and I love working with students. I truly believe every student can be successful in this class! Come join me in office hours every day and we can work together. I am online certified and Safe Zone trained.
My Teaching Philosophy
Making mistakes is an essential part of learning. In my classroom, students should feel safe to explore, make errors, and learn from them.
Let’s make mistakes!
Students should view mistakes as valuable steps toward understanding. Mistakes help students improve their skills.
Let’s think!
This class will help with critical thinking and problem-solving skills. There are multiple ways to solve problems.
Let’s talk about it!
There is a focus on group work in this class. We will have group work assignments at the boards on the wall during every class (once or twice each time we meet). There are 5 exams and a final exam in this class. After each exam, students are required to sit with different people.
