Dr. Patti Parker is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops, British Columbia). She teaches courses in the area of social psychology and motivation. Her research focuses on understanding adaptive ways to manage setbacks in achievement settings. She studies the motivational and psychosocial factors involved in the experience of setbacks, and designs and tests motivation and control-enhancing interventions to combat the negative effects of setbacks.
Dr. Parker worked in a postdoctoral research position at the University of Alberta in the Alberta Consortium for Motivation and Emotion lab run by Dr. Lia Daniels. Prior to that, she obtained her Ph.D. in Social Psychology at the University of Manitoba. Her research is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
