The National Astronomy Education Coordinators NAECs, science educators, teachers and researchers working in astronomy education from countries in the Mediterranean basin with its diverse culture are welcome to participate in The Mediterranean Regional SHAW-IAU Workshop on Astronomy for Education (MASTED). [Mediterranean basin countries include Portugal, Spain France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Cyprus, Turkiye, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Gibraltar]. The application will be open for every country within the region who aspires to participate in the workshop.
Eligiable applicants may apply for an oral presentation, poster presentation and/or a proposal for a hands-on activity resource on astronomy.
A limited number of 30 participants will be accepted to the workshop to increase the efficiency of the activities. Mediterranean countries have priority but other countries are also welcome to apply. If the quota is not fulfilled by the participants from the priority countries we will contact applicants from other countries.

MASTED 2024 workshop is being organised by the NAEC Türkiye Team, Turkish Astronomical Society and Istanbul Kultur University in collaboration with the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) and The IAU Office of Astronomy for Education Center Italy (I-OAE), with generous funding from the Shaw Prize Foundation and The IAU Office of Astronomy for Education Center Italy (I-OAE).
The registration for this workshop is free! However a limited number of participants will be accepted to increase the efficiency of the workshop. You can apply for a grant to support your participation in the MASTED 2024 workshop. We ask those who can cover their travel costs, or part of them, through their institution to do so. This way, we can have more funds available for those who do not have this opportunity. Full or partial grants are available for travel, accommodation, meals and side events.

Selection for Participants and Grants:
Quality of Abstract: Preference will be given to participants with high quality abstracts that are relevant to the MASTED 2024.
Means of Support: Priority will be given to applicants with limited means of support.
Inclusion: Selection will take into account gender and geographical distribution among recipients.
Resume: Preference will be given to NAECs or participants with a resume/CV involved in astronomy education.
