It's hard for humans to visualize large numbers. Crocheting this scarf was a simple and easy way for me to help us visualize just how many lives are impacted by gun violence each year. While it is taxing on my hand, it was the best way I could think of to show large numbers quickly. 

My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was younger. She, among many others in my life, taught me empathy, compassion, and kindness. The choice to crochet scarves comes from a place of connection to my people, specifically my grandma.
