Sep 2023 - Michael Berry joined our group. Welcome Michael!

July 2023 - Aaron presented a poster in the College of Science & Mathematics at JMU, summer symposium, on his recent results on "Microscope and Optical Characterization of Ag2GeS3 Nanostructures."  

May 2023 - Aaron presented a talk at the Physics & Astronomy 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium, at JMU, on his recent results on "Temperature dependent PL studies of Mn doped ITO thin films." 

Mar 2023 - Masoud attended and presented in the APS March meeting in Las Vegas, NV.

Feb 2023 - We submitted an abstract titled: Optical Elements for Photonic Integrated Circuits based on InP Nanowire Photonic Crystal Arrays, C W Tu, M Kaveh, et al., for the 124th DGaO Annual Meeting, European Optical Society, Berlin, Germany, May 30th – June 3rd (2023).

Feb 2023 - We submitted an abstract titled: Nanowire photonic crystal arrays for optical elements in photonic integrated circuits, C W Tu, M Larson, M Kaveh, et al., for the 44th PIERS (Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium), European Optical Society, Prague, Czech Republic, European Union, July 3rd – 6th (2023).

Jan 2023 - We were notified that our paper "Polarization conversion of light diffracted from InP nanowire photonic crystal arrays” has been accepted for publication in the journal of Advanced Optical Materials.

Jan 2023 - We were notified that our abstract on the "Temperature Dependent Photoluminescence Studies of Mn Doped ITO Thin Films " has been accepted and scheduled for presentation at the APS March Meeting in Las Vegas, NV.

Mar 2022 - Masoud attended and presented in the APS March meeting in Chicago, IL.

Jan 2022 - We were notified that our two abstract on the "Optical Characterization of Mn doped ITO Nano films" & "Microscope and Optical Characterization of Ag2GeS3 Nanowires" have been accepted and scheduled for presentation at the APS March Meeting in Chicago, IL. 

Jan 2022 - We were notified that our following paper was accepted for publication: Unique reflection from birefringent uncoated and gold-coated InP nanowire crystal arrays, C W Tu, M Kaveh, M Fränzl, Q Gao, H Tan, C Jagadish, H Schmitzer, HP Wagner, Optics Express, DOI 10.1364/OE.440891 , (2021).

Apr 2021 - We were notified that our proposal on "Next Generation Energy Storage Devices, beyond traditional batteries " was awarded a grant by College of Science and Mathematics 2021 Research Stimulus Program.

Apr 2021 - We were notified that our proposal on "Next Generation Energy Storage Devices, beyond traditional batteries " was awarded the Faculty research support grant, by Vice Provost for university Programs.

Oct 2020 - We were notified that our collaborative work with Dr. Xiaoyan Tan of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at George Mason University is awarded a 4-VA grant. The proposal is on "Accelerating the Discovery of Novel Polar Thermoelectric Materials with Density Functional Theory Calculations".

Apr 2020 - We were notified that our proposal on "Next Generation Energy Storage Devices, beyond traditional batteries " for Madison trust grant has been awarded. (https://advancement.jmu.edu/s/1591/18/interior.aspx?sid=1591&gid=2&pgid=7035 )

Mar 2020 - Masoud was scheduled to travel to Denver, CO for APS March meeting presentation. The whole meeting got canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic. 

Feb 2020 - Masoud, Nikolas and Maeven presented as finalists of the Madison Trust presenters and investors meeting, JMU.

Sep 2019 - Masoud attended the NSF Broadening Participation MPS Workshop for new investigators, Alexandria, VA.  

Jul 2019 - Masoud attended the AAPT meeting in Provo, UT. 

Jan 2019 - Masoud presented on "Semiconductor Nanostructures; from Plasmonic Nanolasers to Nanowire Dielectric-based Capacitors", at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. 

Jan 2019 - An abstract co-authored by Masoud on "Reflection from bare and gold coated InP nanowire arrays", was accepted for presentation at the APS March Meeting in Boston, MA.   

Jan 2019 - We were notified that our abstract on the "Electrical Characterization of Semiconductor Nanostructure Based Capacitors" has been accepted and scheduled for presentation at the APS March Meeting in Boston, MA. 

Nov 2018 - We were notified that our 4-VA grant proposal on "Next Generation Energy Storage Devices: Semiconductor Based Capacitors", has been awarded.

Oct 2018 - Josh, Maeven and Masoud attended the 4-VA and JMU X-Labs Annual Symposium. Maeven presented a poster on Semiconductor Dielectric  based Capacitors, JMU, Oct 04, 2018. 

Sep 2018 - Nikolas presented a talk on "Electrical and Optical Characterization of Semiconductor Nanostructure Based Capacitors" at the 6th Virginia Soft Matter Workshop in Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg, VA, Sep 22, 2018.

Apr 2018 - An abstract co-authored by Masoud was accepted for the "34th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductor (ICSP), Montpellier, France (29th July – 3rd August, 2018).  

Mar 2018 - Nikolas and Maeven presented a talk in "Undergraduate Physics Research Symposium", Mar 24, ISAT/CS, JMU.  

Mar 2018 - Masoud presented our work at the APS March meeting in Los Angeles, CA.  

Feb 2018 - Masoud was nominated for “Make Your Next Move” Award by the office of Career and Academic Planning at James Madison University.

Jan 2018 - Maeven attended the "APS Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP)", University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA.

Jan 2018 - We were notified that our abstract on the "Electrical Characterization of Semiconductor Nanostructure Based Capacitors" has been accepted and scheduled for presentation at the upcoming APS March Meeting in Los Angeles, Ca. 

Nov 2017 - Masoud attended the MRS Fall meeting in Boston, MA.

Sep 2017 - Maeven and Masoud attended the 4-VA Fall symposium. Our group presented a poster on Plasmonic Nano-Lasers.

Sep 2017 - Nikolas, Meaven and Masoud attended the 5th Virginia Soft Matter Workshop at JMU. Masoud presented a soundbite on Micro/Nano Capacitors.

Aug 2017 - Masoud performed measurements at the University of Cincinnati on Selective Area Epitaxy Nanowires (SAE NWs), in collaboration with Dr. Hans-Peter Wagner.

Jun 2017 - Masoud joined the organizing committee for Virginia Soft Matter Workshop (http://vsm.cs.jmu.edu/) which is going to happen on Sep 04/2017 at James Madison University.

Mar 2017 - We were notified that our proposal on "Optical Properties of Hybrid Organic/Plasmonic Nanowires Heterostructures" has been selected for 4-VA collaborative research grant.   

Mar 2017 - Masoud delivered a talk in APS March meeting, New Orleans, LA.

Dec 2016 - Our manuscript on "Population dynamics and dephasing of excitons and electron-hole pairs in polytype wurtzite-zincblende InP nanowires" has been accepted for publication in Physical Review B. 

Nov. 2016 - Our abstract on "Exciton emission from plasmonic-organic-III–V-semiconductor nanowires and nanorods" has been accepted for publication in IEEE Xplore. 

Nov. 2016 - Masoud delivered a talk in the 83rd Annual Meeting of the APS Southeastern Section, University of Virginia,  Charlottesville, VA. 

Oct 2016 - Our manuscript on "Controlling the exciton emission of gold coated GaAs-AlGaAs core-shell nanowires with an organic spacer layer" has been accepted for publication in Nanotechnology.

Oct 2016 - Nikolas and Maeven joined the group.

Aug 2016 - Our abstract on "Exciton Emission from Plasmonic-organic-III-V-semiconductor Nanowires and Nanorods " has been accepted for publication in IEEE Xplore.

Aug 2016 - Masoud's research group started.
