Assignment's ideas for this week:-
1.Doing the pre-activity and share it on FlipGrid
2.Perform Catapult assemblies for 2.5D parts and constructing and joining its parts in Fusion 360
3. Understanding the interface and general working idea of Fusion 360 software.
I care about this idea: to know the basic principles and Utilize the Fusion 360 toolset to create 2D sketches and extrude them into 2.5D parts that I can use for constructing any Project later.
Moreover, Perform assemblies for 2.5D parts in Fusion 360 and Use the laser cutting machine to fabricate 2.5D parts that can be assembled to build a 3D object
1.For laser Cutting:
Machine: MORN Laser Cutter (ِavilable machine in the fablab)
Software: Laser Works V6 (as this software is suitable for the Laser machine)
Materials: PlyWood (cheap and suitable)
2.For Designing:
Software: Fusion 360
as fusion360 has many features such as:
Overview.
Sketching.
Direct Modeling.
Surface Modeling.
Parametric Modeling.
Mesh Modeling.
Freeform Modeling.
Rendering.
I searched on the internet about the designs of a mobile stand for inspiration.
I imagined the design in my mind, then I sketched it using paper and pen.
I opened the fusion 360 software
I Sketched the parts of the design on a new sketch on the software (using the tools that I have learned from the Diploma)
After finishing the sketch, I extruded the parts to turn them into 3d parts (Distance 3 mm, the thickness of plywood)
I joined and assembled the parts of the design together to show the final design of the project, and to notice if there is any problem with the dimensions before fabrication.(The parts of my model assembled together using screws and nuts in order to I designed a T-Sluts in it)
After making sure that all is ok. I exported the file as Dxf file
I draw a design symbol of an eagle (using Abobe Illustrator) to be engraved then I exported it as Dxf File
I opened (Laser Works V6 )
I imported the Stand Design file and the Eagle symbol to the software.
I fit the dimensions and the place of the two designs and I edited the scale (proper scale).
I Prepared the setting of the cutting (cut speed 25, power 65
scan engraving speed 300, power 25 )
I exported the design as file.rld to import on the laser cutting machine.
For Laser Cutting:
I Imported file.dxf to the computer of the laser cutting machine.
I set the properties of the cutting operations (cut speed is 25 power is 65 , scan speed is 300 power is 25)
I will download the file.dxf to the memory of the machine.
I will place a plywood sheet on the machine.
I will choose the starting point
Start the laser cutting
I will assemble the parts of the model using screws and nuts.

we supported each other to know how to deal with the machines and use them, Moreover we helped each other to construct the Catapult Model.
We supported and helped each other in drawing the parts of Catapult.
The instructors helped us on how to extract any indirect dimension of the Catapult model, Specifically the dimensions of the Sluts, Arcs, Curves of the Catapult bow
I had some problems on sketching the arcs and curves. I had to pause to research and learn how to draw it before moving on.
Also, I had some mistakes in fitting the Parts of the Mobile stand model together, mistakes in the places of the nuts with the assembled parts.
by trying and error method all become Good.
I learned to Utilize Fusion 360 tool set to create 2D sketches and extrude them into 2.5D parts.
I learned how to Perform assemblies for 2.5D parts in Fusion 360.
The coolest thing that i have learned this week is how to design the living hinges.
The thing that i will never forget is how to simulate the prototypes models in Fusion 360 software before making it.
I designed an Eagle symbol using Adobe Illustrator and I exported it as a DXF file to be engraved on the Model.
I made a simple mobile stand as a Pre-activity using Cardboard
I Sketched the Nuke symbol and the Parts of the Catapult model and I Joined the parts together using Fusion 360
