During the spring semester of my junior year at James Madison University, I grew my social media marketing passion through taking this course. Our semester-long project consisted of creating a social media marketing plan for a local cat cafe, Aristocat Cafe. This was a collaborative effort in groups of four and we were instructed to present the plan directly to the business owner at the end of the semester. Also during my junior year, I was enrolled in Integrated Marketing Communications, which expanded my knowledge of marketing as a whole. The semester-long project for this course involved working collaboratively in groups of six to create an IMC plan for White Oak Lavender Farm. Fall of my senior semester, I studied marketing analytics. I have always considered myself to enjoy the creative aspect of marketing more, but this course allowed me to develop a well-rounded concept of marketing execution. For this project, my group of five developed the concept of a digital watch for the fitness app, Strava. We created a survey on Qualtrics and used Power BI and RStudio to analyze the data. During the fall of my senior year, I became an expert in Adobe in my Creative Design and Visual Technology classes. Throughout these courses, I was challenged to use new platforms and tools to create visually appealing designs following various marketing-related prompts. From trifolds to magazine covers to business cards, this course built my confidence in the Adobe platforms.
We ended the semester by taking all three certification exams to receive accreditations in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
