Let's have some spring fun with this "collect the eggs" sprint. This activity can be done indoors or outside. This is a lot like the relay races we do in P.E. -- but this time you're racing against yourself to see how fast you can collect all the eggs.
Set a basket at a starting line. Then put out 10 plastic eggs at least 10 feet away (you can decide how far you want your path to be). Run down, pick up ONE egg, run back and put in your basket. Repeat until you've collected all the eggs. Have someone time you. Try improving your time each time you do it. Here's a video my son and I created to demonstrate. Owen's time was 1:02 minutes. Can you beat him? Have fun!
Let's have some more fun with the plastic eggs. Today there are three challenges to practice:
Practice tossing the plastic egg up in the air and catching it while standing in place. Count how many times you can catch it without dropping it.
Practice tossing the plastic egg up in the air and catching it while walking. See how far you can go without dropping it.
Practice balancing the plastic egg on a spoon and walking. See if you can walk a path without dropping the egg.
Here's a video with my son demonstrating the activities.
Let's find out today's fitness challenge by opening up the mystery eggs to learn what the four activities are that we will do.
Once again, my son is helping demonstrate. Watch the video and follow along.
