We started collecting Christmas Village buildings in about 2010, starting out with just some white felt on a pool table. We laid out a simple oval train track, and set our first buildings, from Michael's hobby store, around the track.
Our most elaborate layout to date is the one shown in the video on the left, from the Christmas of 2020.
