These pages describe a Holiday Village layout my wife and I found we can share for the holidays, notably both Halloween and Christmas, since we have retired. We’ve both spent dozens of entertaining hours creating imaginative villages and trains to brighten up the holidays for ourselves and our guests.
Seeing a Christmas village display in a local Michael’s hobby store, the buildings and figures drew our attention from across the store, with their animation, lighting and sound. We bought a few buildings, and soon found ourselves immersed in the world of holiday village collectibles from many sources.
And, of course, we had to build our villages around an operational model railroad, eventually with realistic locomotive sounds!
