Reserve Program The Marion County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for part-time (reserve) Deputies for the department. If you'd like to become a reserve, then you're in luck. We just released our reserve sign-up/application today! Check under Open Applications > Reserves on the website.

Common questions, or concerns. What is a Lateral Opportunity? (a) The MCSO Lateral Opportunity is an extremely rare offer from the Sheriff’s Office, to allow mass amounts of members to laterally, or transfer into the Sheriff’s Office. The simpler explanation is: For instance, you’re currently a member of FLPD as a Senior Officer. You’ll fill out our form, and we’ll change your department from FLPD to MCSO, and you’ll get an equivalent rank (or the next available.) (b) The reason this Lateral Opportunity is being released, is due to the extremely low amount of Sheriff's Office Members/Staff Members.
