If you're in the Charlotte Metro area and prefer learning face-to-face,
I also have availability to meet for in-person private lessons.
Location: I primarily teach either at one of our Charlotte Chess Center locations, or at a
Charlotte Mecklenburg Library location; I'll reserve a 'Private Study Area' in the latter case.
What to bring: Bring your game(s) to analyze (tournament scoresheet or PGN by email) and something to write with/on.
Equipment: I will provide all equipment, including board/pieces and computer (to load and show games/positions).
Spectators: Parents may quietly observe, but no siblings; unfortunately they often become a distractions to our focus.
Instruction - Relevant for both online and in-person
After I get an idea of the player's strengths, weaknesses, I prepare each lesson to the individual student's needs.
Lessons usually consist of game analysis (longer games are best!) and tactics, as well as endings and openings.
Everyone is different, so knowing the student's goals helps me prepare the lessons more specifically.
