Getting Started

I'm primarily taking students (all ages) who know most of the basic rules of the game. These include: 

• Piece movement (including en passant and castling) 

• Definition of check & checkmate

• Different ways a game can end in a draw

Got most but not all of this? That's ok! Don't be afraid to reach out.

I’m aiming for students rated up to USCF 1500 (can approximate with online ratings). 

Please reach out if you'd like to move forward or have any questions. A quick conversation is a great way to address:

• What's the student's relationship to chess now/in the past? 

• Does the student have any chess goals (specific or general) to focus on? 

• What's the student's approximate playing strength? 

• Any concrete questions (e.g. "this always happens in my games... what do I do?" or "any tips for avoiding XYZ?")?
