MARINE PARK CAMPGROUND
GUEST GUIDE
Welcome to Marine Park Campground, and thank you for choosing to stay with us. We are currently in the process of developing this on-line guide to help guests get the most out of their visit here. Basic features include essential campground FAQs with a list of area attractions, calendar of events, and maps that will eventually be expanded to include both a business directory and library of information on local geology, history and other topics. Comments and suggestions for additions warmly welcomed!
THIS MONTH IN THE CAMPGROUND
MAY 2026
MAIN CAMPGROUND, RESTROOMS, SHOWERS & RV DUMP OPEN
The month of May is a special time in the central Gorge when warmer weather and sunnier days bring the region's flora, fauna and recreational opportunities into full bloom.
Cherry and dogwoods blush pink above lush carpets of green spiked with an ever-changing array of multi-colored wildflowers.
The birdsong of swallows, robins, finches and sparrows fill the air.
The sternwheeler begins making daily trips up and down the river.
Fishermen line the walls of the old locks canal hoping to land one of the hundreds of spring salmon who have finally made their way to the central Gorge area.
Children run and play on Thunder Island oblivious to the weddings taking place there almost every weekend.
City streets fill with visitors stopping for gas, food and one of those legendary Eastwind soft swirl cones on their way to whatever hiking, biking, paddling, soaking or mere sight-seeing adventure they've set out to have for the day.
In the campground, our secure restroom/shower facilities and RV dump station are now open for both guest and non-guest use. We've relocated our host site right next to our entrance so we can finally start work on turning our old storage shed into a combined campground office/store by the end of June.
This month also marks the onc year anniversary of finding the litter of feral kittens that had been born in our shed. Two found a new home together here in Cascade Locks, and One was whisked away to live a pampered life of leisure in Portland with one of our guests last summer. The last two are a bonded pair who have joined (but are only reluctantly tolerated by) our long-time resident feline, Gee, in keeping the campground free of both rodents and molehills.
You'll find all of this and more waiting to add all the color, wonder and sublime pleasure this month truly has to offer to every stay you with us.
