Spotlight on Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts
The first Four Seasons Hotel was built in downtown Toronto in 1960. The hotel was founded by Isadore Sharp who has studied architecture and worked in "Max Sharp & Son" with his father. Sharp was the first to introduce shampoos in bathrooms as well as value-added extras, such as 24-hour room service, bathrobes, laundry service, 24-hour secretarial service, etc. He believes that attitude is more important than experience and looks for 'naturals' who can provide innate rather than scripted service.
Sharp designed a motel for a family friend; its success motivated him to try creating his own hotel. His philosophy has always been that service is more important than fixtures and fittings. There are over 100 Four Season Hotel locations in over 40 countries. Its approach to customer service guides employees' actions towards guests, business partners, and each other.
I learned that Isadore Sharp was the recipient of the American Lodging Investment Summit's Lifetime Achievement Award 2005. He won the Canadian Hotel Industry Icon Award the same year. I also learned that Sharp's success is what motivated him to construct over 100 of the Four Seasons Hotel and expand its chain in over 40 more countries.

Chapter 3 spotlight - Catering to the needs of baby boomers
What I learned is that Joe Nevin created a program called "Bumps for Boomers" in Aspen, Colorado for the people who were born between 1946 - 1964. He created the program to satisfy the needs of the boomers'. He wanted the baby boomers to have a fun experience with their friends while staying safe. He teaches techniques that are easy to learn so people do not have to worry about terrain anxiety and speed control. Some tips I adopted from this article is to always communicate with my customers so I can help them with the troubles that they are having. If I was to create a marine sport for Gen X on Guam, I would go at a pace that everyone is comfortable with so it can be easier for people to learn.

Case Study: The Lopesan Group, Gran Canaria, Spain
What I learned is that Lopez wants to appeal to everyone's sense and keep his hotel a place that can satisfy customers needs. Lopez built multiple 5-star hotels which has restaurants, shopping malls, golf course, entertainment facilities, beach, etc. He aims to make his customers feel as if they entered a whole different planet. They want to satisfy their customers with the design of the hotels and the rooms. When the customers check in they already have the television turned to the correct language. What surprised me the most is that he greets the "repeaters" with complimentary drinks and fruits for their return. It can be applied to Guam's hospitality by them treating customers with respect and kindness rather than showing that they do not want to be there or do their job.

Hafa Adai Akio Tsuki,
How have you been? I am glad we are friends. Are you bored just doing the same things everyday in Japan? If you want to explore a different scenery and take a vacation, I would be more than happy to show you around and take you to all our beautiful sites, beaches, and villages here on Guam. The island may be small but has so many different activities to choose from. This vacation would make you want to bring your friends and family over the next time you want to take a vacation. The numerous sites, waterfalls, fiestas, and hiking trails, etc. will make it a vacation you will never forget.
Guam provides various numbers of clothing stores and gifts to give to friends and family. Tumon will keep you busy with all the shops, hotels, the different rides, and the beaches that line up on the shores of the village. It is one of the most busy villages of the island and one out all of all beautiful villages here on Guam. Aside from all the places to shop, if you go down to the southern part of Guam, you will see a lot of beautiful mountains and one being the most known around the island is mount Lamlam. Two of the southern villages of Guam, Merizo and Agat is where you could go if you want to go on a boat cruise, one being to a smaller island and the other being around the waters to see the marine life in the waters. They have jet skiing, surfing, hiking, entertainment, and a lot more to choose from.
With all the recommendations I have talked about, I hope it has and will convince you to visit our beautiful island of Guam. It would be really nice to explore the island with you. It would be so much fun to spend time and learn more about the island with a friend. I will be waiting for the day you decide to come over and do a lot of shopping and activities. I will tell you all about the history of the island and everything that has happened. I hope to see you soon !
sincerely,
Angel

My Dream Destination
Honolulu, Hawaii
Location:
Hawai'i became the 50th state in August 21, 1959. Hawaii is located in the central Pacific Ocean and it is a group of big volcanic islands. The name is often called the "Big Island" or "Hawaii Island." Hawai'i, O'ahu, Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, Maui, Kaho'olawe, Moloka'i, Lāna'i are the eight main islands of Hawai'i. The capital of Hawai'i is Honolulu, and it is located on the island of Oahu. The islands lie 2,397 miles (3,857 km) from San Francisco, California, to the east and 5,293 miles (8,516 km) from Manila, in the Philippines, to the west.
Motivation:
What motivates me to visit Honolulu, Hawaii is that I have friends that are there from Hawaii and some of my family moved there. I have seen a lot of pictures of the sites and activities that they provide and all the different types of food that they have.
Transportation:
The airline that I would be taking is United Airlines. I will be flying from Guam straight to Honolulu. My departure dates will be September 28 to October 6. My ticket will be a round trip and the flight will take 7 hours and 40 minutes for the plane to get to Honolulu, Hawai'i. The flight numbers are flight 200 and flight 201, it will be aircraft 77W.
Since I am a U.S citizen and Guam is a U.S territory, I do not need a passport. Although, if someone was to travel to Honolulu and they do not live within the United States or it's territories, they will be required to have a valid passport and a visa as well.
Lodging:
I will be staying at Waikiki Sand Plaza Hotel, it is a 15 minute drive from the airport and there are a lot of things that I could do while I am there. They have pools, a gym, there is a path way to get down to the beach and a good view of the city.
Recreation/Entertainment:
Hanauma Bay
Pearl Harbor
Waikiki Beach
Makapu'u Point Trail
Moana Hotel
Kuhio Beach Hula show
Ala Moana Shopping Center
Food from Hawai'i:
Kalua Pua'a
Lomi-lomi
Leonard's Malasadas
Time Difference:
Since Guam is where Americas Day Begins, it gives a 20 hour difference and Hawai'i is 20 hours behind Guam
