Formerly my college Graduate Research Paper, I reviewed primary and secondary documents to describe what changes developed in education during the Civil War with an emphasis on instructional methods and subjects taught. There are many changes in education developing, through technology especially. Education today is constantly being changed due to advancements and current political and social situations. The Civil War is generally agreed on to be the event that most altered the history of America. What are some teaching methods and subjects that may still last from the war? What can we learn from these documents as educators? The researcher is looking at what evidence of instructional methods and subjects taught before can be found for the periods during and after the Civil War, and what do primary sources reveal.
