Printing 3D model after scaling and slicing it.
Preparing STL files (Fab lab logo) for the laser cut machine
Machine: Prusa slicer software
Material: PLA
To slice 3D model into slices (layers) and produce (gcode file) which the machine can execute it.
Prusa 3D printing machine
LaserWork software
Machine: laser cut machine (MORN MT3050D)
Material: Wood (6mm thickness)
To Cut and engrave Fab lab logo on the wood
3D object slicing
1- Select printing speed (Normal)
2- Select material (PLA)
3- Select the printer model (Prusa i3 MK2S)
4- Select infilling (20%)
5- Slicing
6- Time and # grams is high
7- Scale it 15 times rather than 100
8- check if the time and #grams is within the quota
9- Export GCode
Fab lab Laser cutting
1- Import dxf logo file
2- Select the outer line to be cut
a- speed: 25
b- power: 65
3- Select the inner lines to be engraved (scanned)
a- speed: 300
b- power: 20
4- Save as .rld file
1- Insert SD card that contains the gcode file into the machine
2- preheat to change filament
3- select the right heat for the (extruder 215- bed 60)
4- wait until it reaches the temperature
5- Pull the old filament
6- insert the new one
6- printing
I asked about different materials available and when to use each one
someone asked about other software for slicing
We had a limited time to print our samples and only one printer was available, so we rescaled one sample again to reduce time to 13 min.
I'll use the laser cut machine to build the body of the robot I'll make.
This tiny cute 3D model.
