Workshop of the European project EPyRIS (14-15 March)

On March 14 and 15, a workshop meeting of the European EPyRIS project organized by the EcoIuris Group took place at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The meeting was attended by the majority of members participating in the project, from France, Spain and Portugal. The workshop served to update the progress in the project, to share all the material developed in the time since the previous meeting, as well as to discuss improvements and future lines of action.

The EPyRIS project (Joint Strategy for the Protection and Restoration of Ecosystems Affected by Forest Fires) is a European project whose activity is focused on the SUDOE area (Portugal, Spain and southern France). The objective of EPyRIS is to anticipate critical situations through the analysis of data from different territorial levels, optimize post-fire emergency procedures and disseminate methodologies developed based on previous experiences.

As mulleres dos mortos: investigadoras en esqueletos humanos

The prestigious research network Consiliencia will bring together the study of human skeletons from an informative point of view in order to promote the recognition of this science and of Spanish women researchers of international prestige who practice it. The programme of conferences grouped under the common title "As mulleres dos mortos" has been conceived with this double objective in mind. It will be held at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Santiago de Compostela from 13 March to 3 April.

López-Costas, together with María Loureiro, professor and researcher at the same university, have launched this initiative. "Our objective is to bring these archaeological and forensic works closer to society, all of them promoted by women who are leading outstanding advances in their respective fields".
