Research
My work combines neuroscientific, psycholinguistic, and statistical methods to investigate language processing and acquisition, with a particular interest in multilingualism, cognition, classroom-based learning, ageing (hearing loss), neurodiversity, and individual differences. I study language processing in monolingual and bilingual adults and children, making the link between reading (speed), comprehension, and sociolinguistic factors & cognitive abilities. The methods I use for these studies include web-based, school-based, eye-tracking, EEG, and (f)MRI experiments. If you have any questions about my work, feel free to contact me.
At the University of Cambridge, I currently advise/supervise two PhD students:
Chara Triantafyllidou, who is investigating the role of prosodic skills and socio-economic status in reading comprehension
Yoana Dancheva, who is working on morphosyntactic and prosodic aspects of (Bulgarian-English) code-switching
I received my PhD from the University of Groningen in 2017 with prof. Petra Hendriks and prof. Hedderik van Rijn as my supervisors. From 2017-2019, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of prof. Esther Ruigendijk at the University of Oldenburg. From 2019-2023, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of prof. Ianthi Tsimpli at the University of Cambridge.
