I was born and raised in West Virginia.

In high school, I was a state tennis tournament participant and clarinet section leader in the marching band.

I got my undergraduate degree from Shepherd University. I received my bachelor's degree in economics and a minor in math with honors. In undergrad, I was president of the AZM chapter of Alpha Phi Omega co-ed community service fraternity and president of the Model UN club. I also studied abroad in Vietnam to collect economic data on women entrepreneurs.
