Biography

I am an Assistant Professor at Leiden University College (LUC) in the Hague, where I lead the interdisciplinary laboratory Decision Engineering for SustaInability and REsilience (DESIRE).

I am also Co-Chair of the Weighting Subtask of the Life Cycle Initiative, hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme. The Life Cycle Initiative is a public-private, multi-stakeholder partnership enabling the global use of credible life cycle knowledge by private and public decision makers.

Before joining LUC, between September 2018 and September 2021, I was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellow at (i) the Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis, Paul Scherrer Institute (Villigen PSI, Switzerland), (ii) the Center for Environmental Solutions and Emergency Response (CESER) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Cincinnati, USA), and (iii) the Institute of Computing Science at Poznan University of Technology (Poznan, Poland). Between April 2017 and August 2018, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Future Resilient Systems (FRS) Programme of Singapore-ETH Centre in Singapore. Prior to this, I was an early career fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study and research assistant in the Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing Group of WMG Department, University of Warwick (UK). I received my Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Warwick (UK) in 2016.

I was the recipient of a three-year Global Fellowship under the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions scheme. The resulting project, titled “Sustainability Assessment based on Decision Aiding (SAbDA)”, lasted from 2018-2021 and it was a collaboration between the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland and Poznan University of Technology in Poland.
