Who’s excited for March 17th? Because I know I am! I'm curious how St. Patrick's Day became a holiday, so let's talk about it.
In 1903 Saint Patrick's Day became an official public holiday. Saint Patrick's Day used to just be a private holiday in Ireland. People would deck out in green and have a feast to honor their religious saint “Saint Patrick.” Then some Irish immigrants came to the United States and brought Saint Patrick's Day with them! Ever since then, word of St. Patrick's Day got around. It's actually one of my favorite holidays now.
I hope you have a great St. Patrick's Day!

Pie day is celebrated on March 3rd ( 3/14 ) because the date kind of looks like the first 3 numbers of pi. The word pi kind of sounds like pie, and it is used to calculate the circumference of a circle ( the shape of a pie ). This is why some people like to make pies to celebrate. You can visit the official Pi-Day website here for more fun facts and activities to celebrate and see the first 1 million digits of pi.

Wow, I can’t believe that it’s almost spring! Spring officially starts on the 20th of March, so let’s look at some fun facts about the season.
1. The word spring comes from the old English word "springan," which means to leap or burst forth. This word is perfect for how the Earth bursts back to life during the springtime.
2. In Japan, the cherry blossom trees symbolize the start of spring, but around 2 weeks later the tree
starts to drop its beautiful blossoms. The Japanese believe that this symbolizes that life is fleeting.
3. In the North Pole, during spring, there will be a full 12 hours of daylight!
4. The first full moon of March is known as the ‘Worm Moon’ because worms come higher up out of the
ground due to frequent rain, lowering the oxygen level in the soil.
5. There’s an old folktale that you could stand an egg on its end on the Vernal Equinox ( which marks the
first day of Spring ). The myth isn’t totally true, but it came from stories when the ancient Chinese
would create displays of eggs standing on end on the first day of spring. ( But they celebrated around 6
weeks earlier than the equinox. ) You can still balance an egg on its end during the equinox, but on
other days too.
