The SUNY Research Foundation Office of Industry and External Affairs (I&EA) works collaboratively with members of the research and innovation community at SUNY Downstate to translate academic discoveries, inventions, and works of authorship (including software) into commercial products and services that benefit society.
The SUNY Inventor Portal is a one-stop shop for the confidential disclosure of your innovative discoveries. This secure website allows faculty and staff to create, edit, and submit invention disclosures online, and check the status of submitted invention disclosures.
Reporting your invention is the first step in the technology transfer process. Upon receiving an invention disclosure, our team evaluates the intellectual property for patentability and marketability.
It’s never too early to speak to a member of the I&EA Team about your idea. Our expert staff is ready to answer questions about IP protection, technology commercialization, business startups, and SUNY RF policies and procedures.
