In the 1870s, a bridge was built in the area that would become Pleasantview connecting to Winston (near current-day Mulberry Beach Amusement Park). A few decades later the lighthouse is built at the divergence of the Lakota River. In 1880, Pleasantview was incorporated as a town, but the town never grew substantially.
Today, new business and jobs are coming to the neighborhood in the form of the Pluto Oil Field, so Pleasantview is poised to grow substantially in the coming years.
