Dr. Mohammad Arafat obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). His doctoral research focused on the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance of bio-inspired UAV propellers, exploring the fundamental noise-generation mechanisms through advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. For this work, he was honoured with the Best PhD Thesis Award (Anugerah Tesis Terbaik Pascasiswazah [Ijazah Kedoktoran]), recognising the originality, depth, and impact of his research contributions. The PhD degree was officially conferred during the UTHM convocation ceremony held on 6 December.

Before his doctoral studies, Dr. Arafat earned his Master of Engineering Technology (by Research) from UTHM and also studied Master of Mechanical Engineering at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Hangzhou, China, where he successfully completed the coursework. He obtained his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree from Telkom University, Indonesia in 2019, graduating as the Most Outstanding Student.

PhD Conferral and Best Thesis Award

I am grateful to share that I was officially conferred the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) during the convocation ceremony held on 6 December.

I am deeply honoured to have received the Best PhD Thesis Award (Anugerah Tesis Terbaik Pascasiswazah – Ijazah Kedoktoran). This recognition reflects the perseverance, discipline, and commitment invested throughout the doctoral journey.

This journey was marked by long days, late nights, challenges, and meaningful personal and academic growth. My sincere appreciation goes to my supervisor, Dr. Izuan Amin Ishak, and my co-supervisors, Dr. Nurshafinaz Mohd Maruai and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Nofrizalidris Darlis, for their invaluable guidance, mentorship, and support. I am also grateful to everyone who offered encouragement and belief along the way.

This milestone represents not an end, but a foundation for continued research, learning, and contribution to science and society.

This study investigates the aerodynamic effects of bio-inspired propeller modifications, including leading-edge (LE), trailing-edge (TE), and boundary-layer trips (BL), both individually and in combination.
